Splitting Superannuation Contributions

Concessional deductible contribution to a Super Fund can be transferred to a spouse in whole or in part, up to 85%

Non concessional personal (undeductible) contributions cannot be transferred (split)

This nomination of transfer takes place after the end of each tax year.

Note the spouse must be under 65 and not permanently retired if over 55.

If age differences between spouses contributions can be split to the younger spouse and Centrelink age pension benefits obtained or if one person is nearing 60 gives tax free access earlier.
